Doc accuses colleague of exploitation
Lucknow: A resident doctor at a premier govt institute in city filed FIR, accusing a fellow resident doctor of sexual exploitation, abuse and criminal intimidation, police said on Wednesday.
The complainant, a woman resident doctor lodged in the institute’s hostel, alleged her male colleague and resident of same hostel, befriended her and developed physical relations, promising to marry her.
She alleged that in 2024, he forced her to consume contraceptive pills and, on refusal, subjected her to verbal abuse and threats to life. The complainant claimed she later came to know through friends that he was involved with multiple women. When confronted, he refused to marry her and made derogatory remarks, stating he had no intention of committing to the relationship.
She also alleged that the accused had been defaming her on the institute’s premises by spreading canard about her character, leading to severe mental harassment.
The matter was earlier referred to the institute’s internal complaints committee which attempted reconciliation between the two parties, but the accused refused to cooperate.
SHO, PGI police station, Dhirendra Kumar, said FIR under the charges of BNS 69 (sexual intercourse through deceit), 115 (2) (causing hurt), 352 (breach of peace), 351 (3) (intimidation) against the male doctor.
