DIG gets a clean chit in Dubey case

Lucknow: The state government gave a clean chit to deputy inspector general of police, Anant Deo Tiwari in a departmental probe.
Tiwari, a 2006-batch IPS officer, was suspended on November 12, 2020 for his alleged role in posting and shielding of police officials who were hand-in-glove with slain don Vikas Dubey. Senior police officials at DGP headquarters said that his suspension was revoked last October by the government and now the officer has received a clean chit in the departmental probe.
Tiwari, a PPS officer, was promoted to IPS cadre in 2006. He was Kanpur SSP just before Bikru carnage and DIG, Special Task Force, when the incident took place. The SIT formed by the government in its report had also reportedly shown that Anant Deo was soft while acting againstDubey. The manner of posting of Vinay Tiwari as Chaubeypur SHO was also questioned by the SIT, led by additional chief secretary Sanjay Bhoosreddy.
A separate departmental probe was also conducted against Tiwari by joint commissioner of police, crime, Nilabja Chaudhary.
