DGP inaugurates Chandapur Police Station in Rae Bareli
Lucknow: In line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's zero-tolerance policy towards criminals and with the aim of improving access to policing and ensuring quicker response times in rural areas, Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar inaugurated the newly constructed Chandapur Police Station in Rae Bareli district on Sunday. The new police station, carved out of the Maharajganj police station area, covers 23 villages, including 21 from Maharajganj and 2 from Mill Area Police Station. The DGP also planted saplings on the police station premises. He inspected the station's infrastructure, including the lock-up, Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System facilities, and the malkhana, issuing necessary instructions for efficient policing. Recognising grassroots policing efforts, DGP Prashant Kumar distributed bicycles, umbrellas, and sticks to 12 Gram Praharis (village watchmen), acknowledging them as vital contributors to the state's policing system. "Gram Praharis are an integral part of our police network. Their role in local vigilance and crime prevention cannot be overlooked," he remarked. The event was attended by ADG, Lucknow Zone, SB Shiradkar; IG, Lucknow Range, Tarun Gauba; Rae Bareli DM Harshita Mathur; and SP Yesh Vir Singh.
