DGP gives compensation cheques to families of cops
Lucknow: DGP Rajeev Krishna on Friday distributed compensation cheques worth around Rs 20 crore to the families of police personnel who died in road accidents while on duty, as well as to those rendered disabled. The financial assistance was given under the Police Salary Package scheme in collaboration with Bank of Baroda.The beneficiaries included families of sub-inspectors, constables, and fire personnel from districts such as Lakhimpur Kheri, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Pratapgarh, Kanpur Nagar, Prayagraj, Badaun, Kannauj, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Rampur, and Baghpat. Cheques ranged from Rs 75 lakh to Rs 2 crore. Among the recipients were families of sub-inspector Vinod Kumar Singh of Kheri, who died in March 2025 in a road accident (Rs 2 crore); S-I Neha Shukla of Prayagraj, killed in Dec 2024 (Rs1.70 crore); and constable Abhay Kumar of Lucknow headquarters (Rs 1.90 crore). Families of constables who lost their lives in unusual tragedies, such as Shahjahanpur's Shahrukh Hasan, killed by a kite string while on patrol, also received assistance. Two disabled constables, Mayank Kumar from Hathras and Pushpendra Kumar from Ambedkar Nagar, were sanctioned Rs 75 lakh each.
