Police nab prime suspect in murder case after encounter

Lucknow: Deoria police apprehended a key suspect in the Nihal Singh murder case after a brief encounter in the Suroli area on Saturday morning. The accused, Deepak Mishra sustained a bullet injury in his leg and was admitted to Maharshi Devraha Baba Medical College for treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
The incident dates to Nov 7 this year when Nihal Singh (alias Shubham Singh), a resident of Musaf Colony, Deoria, was shot dead near Jaddhu Parsia village. Following a complaint from the victim's mother, police registered a case and initiated a manhunt. Earlier, five suspects were arrested in connection with the case.
On receiving a tip-off, police intercepted Deepak Mishra, son of Mantu alias Dhruv Narayan Mishra, near Vishunpur Morh in Suroli. During the encounter, Mishra was shot in the leg before being subdued. An illegal firearm was found in his possession.
Additional SP Sunil Kumar Singh confirmed that Mishra was the final suspect in the case. "The accused is receiving medical treatment, and legal proceedings are underway," he said.
