‘Dead girl’ walks into police station

LUCKNOW: Police on Friday evening went into a tailspin after a girl whose body was recovered from Sarojini Nagar police circle on Friday morning , suddenly surfaced atthe policestation to claim that she was very much alive . The puzzled cops later realised that it was a case of mistaken identity and the girl whose body was recovered earlier in the day was someone else.
It all began on an early Friday morning ,when body of a girlwas recovered from the outskirts of Daroga Khera area in Sarojini Nagar . The body bore a gun shot wound confirming thattheincidentwasthatof a murder .Acoupleof hourslater , a local resident Pappu Kashyap reached the site where the body was found and identified the girl as his daughter Kajal Kashyap .Papputoldthe policethatK ajalhadelopedwith another local youth Tarun Kant Yadav about a month ago . Tarun was helped by Vipul in the act .
Pappu then lodged an FIR with the police accusing Tarun and his friend Vipul of murder . In the named FIR, he stated Kajal was murdered by the duo for reasons unknown and her body was dumped outside the village . Subsequently , the body of the deceased was duly sealed and sent for autopsy .
But the cops at Sarojni Nagar police station got a shock of their life, when a girl walked into the premises claiming that she was Kajal and that she was very much alive . She even wenton to accuseher father of deliberately identifying the dead body to implicateher lover in a falsecase .The girl however refused to confront Pappu at the latter’s house fearing a backlash . The puzzled cops informed the senior officials following which the additional superintendent of police (ASP) City (East ) reached the police station and summoned Pappu , who too identified the Kajal as her daughter and disowned the dead body .
Police spokesperson later said that the deceased resembled Kajal and it was because of this that Pappu apparently made a mistake .Thecopshowever failed to explain what prompted the police to believe Pappu’s statement without bothering to cross-check and establish the fact . Though an inquiry has been ordered to locate the lapse , thefirstFIRlodgedin connection with the recovery of the dead body was quashed and a fresh case of murder was lodged in which the deceased was described as an unidentified girl aged around 20 years .
