Criminals, mafia & maulanas will sweep streets of Bengal if BJP elected to power: Yogi
Lucknow: Warning the Opposition that criminals, mafia and maulanas will be sweeping the streets of West Bengal if BJP was elected to power in the assembly polls, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday assured voters that they need not be afraid of anyone threatening them.
Addressing three poll rallies in the state, in Barabani, Rampurhat and Bolpur, the CM gave the example of UP, saying that under his govt, bulldozers were used against the mafia, their property confiscated and then distributed among the poor and tribals.
The CM gave an assurance that under BJP, no cow slaughter would be allowed and there would be no riots or curfews in Bengal. India’s culture capital, which under TMC had become crime capital, would be restored as the land of Durga Utsav, Maa Kali and Maa Tara, he said.
“Mamata Didi has hatred for Jai Shri Ram. She does not allow Durga Puja to take place. She creates a curfew-like atmosphere during Hindu festivals. In Murshidabad, the govt stood with goons and troublemakers. Durga Puja and immersion processions are banned here. The Kolkata high court had told the Trinamool Congress govt that since it cannot provide security during Durga Puja, it should get the bulldozer from UP, as only that can remedy these goons,” the CM said.
Claiming that TMC was insecure about his rally, the CM said after his schedule was announced, “goons from TMC” attempted to uproot BJP flags from the rally ground and prevent the event from taking place.
He asked people to vote for BJP candidates, asserting that the party would wipe out TMC from Bengal. He promised that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all their problems would be resolved as BJP alone could guarantee security, prosperity and a bright future.
Yogi said once BJP comes to power in Bengal, “Modi would send a lot of money to the state which would then be used for the people of the state, and not be spent on infiltrators”.
Saying that TMC had become synonymous with terror, mafia raj and corruption, Yogi accused its members of having created an atmosphere of fear in the state and promoting sand mafia, coal mafia and land mafia. He further accused the party of siphoning off the funds that the Centre sent to WB for development works.
Giving UP’s example to show how BJP was promoting Sanatan faith and culture, the CM said that now nobody can offer namaz on the roads, there are no loudspeakers in mosques and cow slaughter is banned. Action has also been taken against love and land jihad, he said, adding that the govt was taking such strict action so that seven generations of the guilty would remember the punishment.
“In Bengal, however, there is cattle smuggling, cow slaughter and disturbances before festivals. During the Ram Janmbhoomi movement, the Samajwadi Party govt, TMC’s partner, had bullets fired at Ram devotees. When the double-engine govt came to UP, the biggest temple of Lord Ram was built in Ayodhya. Congress, SP and TMC could not stop it, because ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’,” he said.
Criticising the Opposition for having halted Bengal’s development journey, the CM said that first Congress, then the Left, and for 15 years TMC, had created an identity crisis. Bengal was the growth engine of the country’s economy after Independence but these parties made the state a centre of corruption, fear and anarchy.
“Fish production declined and rice production fell. Mafia dominate resources here, jobs and employment for youth have disappeared. Industries have shut down. Farmers cannot get the price for their produce. Potato prices are Rs 15-16 per kg in UP while only Rs 1-1.5 per kg in Bengal,” Yogi said.
He also raked up the recent controversy over President Draupadi Murmu’s visit to Bengal, accusing WB chief minister Mamata Banerjee of having forgotten protocol.
“For the first time in India, a daughter of a tribal community, India’s daughter Draupadi Murmu ji, assumed the highest constitutional post and became President. On her arrival in Bengal, CM Mamata Banerjee neither went to welcome her not sent any minister. It is standard protocol that when the President, Vice President or Prime Minister visit any state, the Governor, CM and minister-in-charge of that state arrive to welcome them,” he said.
