
A 21-year-old man allegedly shot dead his 50-year-old father around 4.30 am on February 20 after a heated argument at their home. Police said the accused, Akshat Singh, opened fire during the altercation, leading to the death of his father, Manvendra Singh, on the spot.

Police have detained the 21-year-old accused and said a case will be registered under relevant sections of law. Investigators are further probing the motive behind the argument and verifying the sequence of events shared during interrogation.

After the killing, the accused allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by bringing the body down from the third floor to the ground floor. He then chopped off several body parts and disposed of them separately, while hiding the remaining torso inside a drum.

The murder came to light during the investigation of a missing person complaint registered at Ashiana police station. During sustained questioning, Akshat Pratap Singh reportedly broke down and confessed to killing his father following a dispute.

The deceased’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain exact cause of death and other medical details. Officials said further legal action will follow based on forensic findings and evidence collected from the scene.

Senior police officials rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. A forensic team was called in to inspect the house thoroughly, collect samples, and gather crucial evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events.
