LUCKNOW: A couple on Saturday came forward to help the pre-mature newborn girl who, on Friday, was thrown in a ditch by her biological parents to die. The girl was wrapped in a polythene bag which got stuck in the bushes, which prevented her from falling into the filthy water and drowning. Locals saved the girl and admitted her to the Government Women and Child Hospital in Aliganj.

On Saturday morning, a couple (who do not wish to be identified) approached senior medical officials and offered to help. With the permission of chief medical officer Dr AK Shukla, the couple admitted the baby in a nursing home equipped with latest facilities for medical care. Shukla said that he would also inform the Child Welfare Committee about the baby and the couple who also seems to be interested in adopting the child as per the laid procedure.
Meanwhile, a destitute girl with mental problem, aged around 27 years, was found on the roadside near a Mall in Gomtinagar. Police outpost in-charge Arun Kumar Shukla contacted Nirvan's shelter home `Balloon' and informed the staff about the girl. The Nirvan rescue team comprising Ajay Soni, Mahesh Kandpal, Mohammed Ahmed and Mohini Valecha brought the girl to the home in an ambulance. She was provided first aid, clothes and food. Nirvan has issued an appeal that anybody knowing whereabouts of the girl can contact organisation's president, Suresh Singh Dhapola on his mobile number 9411107536.
