Cops lodge FIR against BSP MLC

LUCKNOW: An FIR was registered against Bahujan Samaj Party MLC Arvind Tripathi alias Guddu Tripathi on Friday at Hussainganj police station. The complainant Shamim Ahmed alleged that Tripathi threatened him over the phone some weeks back, when he sought details of MLC's hotel located on Station Road through RTI query. The police registered a complaint under IPC section 507 (criminal intimidation via anonymous communication) against the MLC.A resident of Purana Qila area of Hussainganj, Ahmed had written to LDA to find out whether the hotel Saubhagaya Inn was constructed according to the map approved by the authority. The hotel does not have a proper parking lot, a norm laid down by authority for commercial buildings. He alleged that the MLC threatened him over the phone and asked him not to interfere in his business.
