LUCKNOW: After a hard work of around a week, the Alambagh police on Thursday, finally succeeded in tracing the owner and the car, which resulted in the death of a traffic constable at Mawaiyya Crossing on March 25. The car did not have the registration number at the time of the incident.
"The car is owned by Pradeep Nair, a resident of Rajajipuram under Talkatora police station area," circle officer Rajesh Srivastava said.
The car was traced to be owned by Pradeep Nair, who worked in window glass factory in Talkatora Industrial Area, the police said. Though Nair's son Abhishek Nair, a BBA student in Pune, was in the car, his father was unable to confirm whether Abhishek was actually in the driver's seat or not, police said.
On March 25, traffic constable Rakesh Singh laid down his life trying to intercept a speeding reckless four-wheeler after it rammed into a cyclist at Mawaiyya crossing in Alambagh.
Police had screened 54 Ritz-make white cars similar to the one, which was responsible for the accident to reach to the perpetrator of the crime.
