LUCKNOW: Constable Dharmendra Shukla, PAC, was slapped and heckled by the Lucknow University Students Union general secretary, Vinod Tripathi and a group of around 30 students.
The incident took place near the LU UCO Bank extension counter on Monday. Tripathi has been arrested.
Around 2.15 pm a student, name unknown, went to the UCO Bank (extension counter) situated in the University.

He found the bank closed as the office hours were over.
According to the police, he tried to open the door of the bank. Dharmendra and a few PAC constables posted there tried to prevent him.
This led to a scuffle in which the student was roughed up by the policemen. Soon thereafter, Pawan Singh, Anand Singh and Vinod Tripathi came to the scene with about 30 other students and picked up a fight with Dharmendra Shukla.
They slapped him and beat up the other constables too. A team of senior police officials led by SP (TG), Ajay Kumar, reached the spot and took control of the situation. Kumar informed TOI that Vinod Tripathi had been arrested in this connection.
