Cong’s Ambedkar Samman Yatra against Shah’s remarks

Lucknow: Reiterating its demand for Union home minister Amit Shah's resignation for making disrespectful remarks about Dr BR Ambedkar, the Congress party said it will organise 'Baba Saheb Ambedkar Samman Yatra' in every district of UP on Tuesday to expose ‘BJP's mindset'.
"Shah's comments against the chief architect of the Constitution were an insult to the great leader," said senior functionaries led by Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Tewari, former Union Minister Salman Khurshid, Amethi MP Kishori Lal Sharma, and Sitapur MP Rakesh Rathore, besides UPCC chief Ajay Rai in Lucknow on Monday.
They also described Amit Shah as a dark chapter of Indian democracy.
Demanding Shah's immediate resignation, Khurshid said: "His remarks are deeply offensive and reflect the BJP's longstanding disdain for Ambedkar and the Constitution."
Stating that the BJP harbours anti-constitutional ideologies and that there was no dearth of examples to prove this, Tewari said: "It is for this that we warned the nation that if the BJP secured a two-thirds majority, it would amend the Constitution to deny reservations to Dalits and backward classes. Amit Shah's comments during a parliamentary debate make its intentions clear."
Sharma alleged that BJP MPs disrupted Parliament by blocking access to opposition leaders and physically assaulting Congress members, including party chief Mallikarjun Kharge. They also said Congress would hold nationwide protests and outreach programmes to "expose the BJP's anti-Dalit and anti-constitutional mindset."
"We will not stand for any insult to Ambedkar or the Constitution.," said Sitapur MP Rathore.
