The protesters who shouted slogans against the government also made an unsuccessful attempt to burn effigy of CM Yogi Adityanath and were overpowered by the police.
The protest march was led by State youth Congress General Secretary, Kunwar Gaurang Dev Chauhan and district president Kapil Sharma.
Talking to media, Chauhan said that rape incidents had increased since the Yogi government came to power. “Women are not safe in the state, They have failed to provide safety to women,” he said, adding that rape incidents are being reported every second day from different parts of the state.
He alleged that the Yogi government was also suppressing the voice of the people and was gagging anyone who said or raised slogans against it. Chauhan said that many workers were injured by the police when they tried to burn the effigy of the CM.
He said, such kind of practice can not stop them from raising their voices against the wrong doings of the government .
