Cong seeks FIR over derogatory image of Ajay Rai

Lucknow: Congress workers on Saturday approached the Hussainganj police for the second time, seeking registration of an FIR against alleged BJP-backed elements for circulating a derogatory image of UPCC president Ajay Rai on social media.According to them, the objectionable post was shared two days ago by "undesirable elements patronised by the BJP" from the Sarojini Nagar area, hurting the sentiments of party workers.
On Feb 3, a delegation led by Lucknow District Congress Committee president Rudra Daman Singh ‘Bablu' submitted a complaint at Hussainganj police station, demanding action. However, the Congress alleged that the police failed to register an FIR due to "political pressure". On Friday, Congress workers led by Rudra Daman Singh and City Congress President Amit Srivastava Tyagi and Dr Shahzad Alam reached the police station again. They demanded immediate and impartial action, urging the police to uphold the Constitution and rule of law. "This is unfortunate that in the present regime even FIRs are being registered only under political pressure, not as per law," they said. Singh warned that if an FIR was not registered soon, the Congress would be compelled to approach the court.
