allahabad: the three prestigious seats of city north, city south and city west have been retained by n k s gaur, k n tripathi and atiq ahmed respectively while the congress party managed to open an account for itself after nearly a decade with senior leader shyam surat upadhayay winning the elections from pratappur constituency. according to the results declared amidst chaos and confusion at the mundera mandi samiti, city north bjp nominee n k s gaur was declared elected defeating his nearest rival a n singh by a narrow margin.
similarly, k n tripathi defeated shyama charan gupta of the samajwadi party in city south and atiq ahmed defeated sp nominee gopal das yadav in city west. others who were declared elected include reoti raman singh (sp) from karchana, mahesh narain singh (sp) from handia, ram kripal singh (cpi-m) from meja, vijma yadav (sp) from jhunsi, mohd mujtaba siddiqui (bsp) from soraon, ansar ahmed (ad) from nawab ganj. in bara bjp’s ubkarwariya was elected.
