According to the order, all associated colleges have been given permission to increase 33% of undergraduate seats. A college can increase the number of seats in BA, BSc and BCom from 60 to 80 now, but not more than 80 candidates can be admitted in a course.

For compliance with the government order, a letter from LU authorities is still awaited. "We have sent an application to Lucknow University seeking permission to increase 33% of seats as per the government order. No letter has been received from the university till date for us to go ahead with the decision," said Prof Moulindu of Lucknow Christian College.

Lucknow Christian College, Shri Jai Narain PG College and other associated colleges have written to LU for the vice-chancellor's permission to increase undergraduate seats. "Until the university gives us a go-ahead, we cannot decide the courses in which the seats would be increased," said principal of Shri Jai Narain PG College SD Sharma.
