CMO murder: MLC, 15 others under scanner

LUCKNOW: The Investigators picked up at least 15 persons including an MLC from different locations throughout the state as the probe into CMO, family welfare, Dr BP Singh murder case gathered momentum for the past few days.
According to sources, the special squad and STF are interrogating an MLC close to an eastern UP MP following ‘definite' information that he had been frequently visiting Delhi in the past over a month or so.
The MLC met a person of criminal antecedent every time he went to Delhi. This raised the suspicion as the person the MLC met was already on investigators' radar following the murder of the CMO.
An official said that the special squad was actually close to cracking the case. "It has come to the notice of the cops that the shooters are from western UP and were also hiding somewhere in New Delhi. Investigators are now almost sure of the motive and the conspirator behind the murder, who according to them is an influential person," sources said.
Besides the MLC, the teams have also picked up around 14 others. Around five of them alone have been picked up for interrogation by a team directly under the command of DIG, Lucknow.
Besides, a few suspects have been picked up from an eastern UP district, while at least four have been picked up from Meerut and other districts in western UP.
An investigator heading of the team even claimed that if everything went as smooth as it was going now, the investigators would be able to crack the murder mystery behind CMO, Dr BP Singh within one week or so.
Senior officials, were however, tightlipped and continue to admit that not much headway has been made on the investigation front so far.
