CM directs DMs to enforce safety norms in Jal Jeevan Mission works
Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed all district magistrates to strictly ensure that all safety standards are followed during excavation work under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and that the roads and pits dug are filled immediately after the work is completed.
He has asked the DMs and other senior officials to conduct field inspections to ensure compliance.
“Any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated,” the CM has cautioned.
A state govt spokesperson said the Yogi govt is continuously working to provide clean drinking water from urban areas to rural regions and through the Jal Jeevan Mission, crores of people are benefiting.
The official said the agencies and contractors responsible for delays, leaving work incomplete, or showing negligence will be penalised and blacklisted.
The CM also directed officials to ensure that complaints related to water supply, leakages and excavation on the Jal Samadhan portal are resolved on a priority basis.
For complaints related to water supply or repair work under the Jal Jeevan Mission, people can register complaints on the toll-free number 18001212164.
In Uttar Pradesh, more than 2.50 crore rural households have already been provided tap water connections, the spokesperson said, adding that nearly 100% of the target has been achieved in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions.
