by chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday. While Rs
20 lakh
have been paid on behalf of the state government, the Samajwadi Party had given her a cash reward of Rs
5 lakh
. Acknowledging her rare accomplishment, chief minister Akhilesh Yadav told Arunima that she had not only brought laurels to the state but had also earned a name for the country.
The chief minister also said he hoped others would draw inspiration from Arunima's efforts. Arunima, who said she was elated at receiving the honours, was also glad to have transformed what the world perceived as a disability, into her greatest strength. She also said the after her Ladakh expedition, Akhilesh had promised to extend all possible help.
