Class I student stabbed in Lucknow school: Principal arrested
NEW DELHI: The principal of a Lucknow school where a class I student was stabbed inside the toilet was on Thursday taken into police custody, news agency ANI has reported.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath met the victim at the King George's Medical University (KGMU).
Seven-year-old Hrithik Sharma, who was allegedly attacked by a senior girl student, is fighting for his life at the hospital's trauma centre. In his statement to the police late on Wednesday evening, the boy said the girl had told him that she was beating him to get the school to close early.
"A didi with boy-cut hair called me, saying a teacher had asked for me. She took me to the bathroom and slapped me. Then she attacked me with a sharp object," Sharma said in his statement to the police.
The police are questioning a 12-year-old class VI girl student of the school in the matter, after she was identified by the victim with the help of a photograph.
"He was attacked by a girl student of class 6 with a knife used to chop vegetables. We have sent the hair of the girl, found on the body of the child, for DNA test. She will be presented before Juvenile Justice Board. The Principal has been arrested," ANI quoted Lucknow SSP Deepak Kumar as saying.
Kumar added that the purported weapon had been recovered.

Principal of a school is expected to ensure thatstudents studying in the school are taught to treat each other like brothers and sisters if it is anideal school.
