Civil services aspirant held for abetment to suicide

Lucknow: A youth accused of instigating a girl to commit suicide was arrested by a team of Ghazipur (Indiranagar) police on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Ashutosh Singh from Ayodhya district, was named in the case of abetment to suicide along with his aides, Rahul Nishad from Ayodhya, a girl named Muskan, and two unidentified youths.
Bina Singh, resident of Maharajganj, Ayodhya district, lodged a complaint on Tuesday at the local police station, accusing the named persons of murdering her daughter Shivani, 21.
Shivani and Ashutosh were both civil servant aspirants. Shivani committed suicide four days ago at her residence by hanging herself, said the police. Her parents lodged a murder case and accused Ashutosh and Rahul for the murder of Shivani. There were messages exchanged between the two over several months, the police said.
Police worked on the complaint against Rahul Nishad, Ashutosh Singh, Muskan and two other unknown youths.
A team from Indiranagar police station was present in the area, taking the help of the ground information system when it received information through an informer that the suspect was present near Polytechnic intersection.
On the basis of the information, police team reached the spot and the accused was caught. He identified himself as Ashutosh Singh, 21, from Ayodhya.
The team frisked the accused and found him carrying two mobile phones, of which, he said one belonged to Shivani.
ACP Anindya Vikram Singh said charges of murder were omitted and section of abetment to suicide (108 BNS) was added. He added that search was on for the other accused in the case.
