There was social harmony and mutual respect between all citizens irrespective of their religion or caste," said great-great granddaughter of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah (the last nawab of Awadh), Manzilat Fatima.
Addressing the participants at the Holi Milan celebration organised by Lucknow Connection Wildlife group at Urdu Academy here, on Sunday, Fatima said that Lucknow has still kept Wajid Ali Shah's legacy alive. "Here everyone participates in festivals of one and another community, which is an example of unity, peace and friendship for the world and this must be protected," she said.
From Holi folk songs, traditional dance to 'Phoolon Wali Holi' and Bollywood songs, different colourful hues were spread during the celebration.
Earlier the programme started with Ganesh Vandana followed by singing, dancing and musical performances. Over 100 partcipants attendant the event and played floral Holi.
On the occasion, group chief admin Sunil Mishra, Anil Shukla, along with Rajeev Saxena, Dhuruv Khare said such programmes should be conducted time to time. "We still say 'pehle app' (after you) here that shows how polite citizens of Lucknow are," they said.
