Christians commemorate Christ’s crucifixion and hold holy masses

Lucknow: To commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, Christians gathered in churches on Good Friday. Holy communions and masses were organized in the churches.
At St Joseph’s Cathedral, a sermon based on the seven words spoken by Jesus Christ at the cross was organized. “Reflecting on values of repentance, forgiveness and sacrifice, we tried to take the seven phrases in the sermon to relate them to ordinary life, so that people can understand them better and feel connected. To broaden accessibility, three of the phrases were preached in English, and the rest were in Hindi,” priest Father Donald D’Souza said.
The people read excerpts for the Bible and sang hymns.
At Epiphany church, service began with a Bible reading, followed by singing hymns and a word of prayer by Rev. E F Baksh. At the Assembly of Believers Church, Aliganj the worship service began with the song ‘lakri pe latka nasari’ led by Oswin. Father Morris Kumar introduced seven preachers followed by a skit based on Jesus’ crucifixion directed by Sister Vartika.
