LUCKNOW: The state level painting competition organised by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) on Saturday was a sure eye catcher as students from various districts of the state participated to spread awareness on judicious use of electricity.
The on-the-spot competition showcased the creative talent of children trying to depict countless ways to save energy.
However, out of 50 students, only 36 students were present. "Deciding the winner was tough as most of the paintings were well drawn," said Rakesh Jaitly, general manager, NTPC.
The first prize was won by Jyoti Nagpal, a class V student from Ghaziabad. Mohit Tripathi from Lucknow stood second, followed by Rizwan Ahmed (Jhansi) at third position.
Regional executive director, NTPC, IB Pandey congratulated the winners. Chairman, Union Public Service Commission, Rajesh Awasthi gave away the prizes. Rs 10,000 were given to the first prize winner, Rs 8,000 to the second winner and Rs 5,000 to third winner.
