Chhapiya

police station area on Sunday noon and held hostage in a car for three hours.
The kidnappers demanded ransom of Rs 20 lakh for his release. Later, he was put in a gunny bag and dumped at a cane field, barely 20 km from his shop, supposedly after he assured to pay Rs 10 lakh to the kidnappers. The police have lodged an FIR in this connection.
Superintendent of police, Gonda, Santosh Mishra said that the police have got the number of the vehicle and its owners are under scanner.
Narrating, the sequence of events,

Mishra

said that on Sunday morning they were informed about the kidnapping, but by the time police teams reached the shop of Sheel Prakash, he himself reached the police station and narrated his ordeal.
Prima facie it appears that the accused were also in the same business and the kidnapping of Sheel could have been a reason for it, said another officer privy to the probe
The police have provided security to Sheel Prakash and launched a manhunt for the accused.
