Chehellum preparations reviewed

LUCKNOW: On December 23, 2013 afternoon, senior superintendent of Lucknow police J Ravinder Goud reviewed the preparations and deployment of force for Chehellum procession. Scheduled on Tuesday, the district administration and police have made large scale arrangements to ensure public order and peace is maintained.
On December 22, a route march was taken out from Jyotiba Phule Park in Chowk and passed via Akbari Gate, Pul Ghulam Hussain, Kashmiri Mohalla, Dargah Hazrat Abbas, Gaddayiha, Saadatganj police station, Mehndiganj, Bazarkhala, Billochpura, Nadan Mahal Road, Nakkhas, Victoria Street before culminating at the park.
Violent clashes broke out between two minority sects in Old City localities like Thakurganj, Wazirganj, Bazarkhala, Chowk and Saadatganj in August this year. Over 3,000 police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed. CCTV cameras have also been installed at 30 spots to monitor the crowd.
