Chargesheet filed against ponzi scheme kingpin Soni
Kanpur: Kanpur police have filed the first chargesheet against Ravindranath Soni, accused of duping more than 700 people of Rs 1,500 crore in several countries through ponzi schemes.The 360-page chargesheet filed on Wednesday includes the statements of 35 witnesses, CCTV footage, WhatsApp chats and other documents. Police plan to take Soni on remand for questioning. Soni was arrested from Dehradun in Dec last. Inspector Jagdish Prasad Pandey said, "A 360-page chargesheet has been filed against Ravindranath Soni." He said electronic evidence was presented along with documentary evidence

Abdul Karim, a resident of Parade Nawab Ibrahim Hata, filed an FIR at Kotwali alleging fraud of Rs 42.3 lakh. Several people claiming to have been duped by Soni met police commissioner Raghubir Lal, after which Lal formed an SIT to probe the case. Police said several important revelations came to light during the investigation. Kotwali police have registered 24 FIRs against Soni.
