LUCKNOW:

Bhim Army

chief

Chandrashekhar Azad

’s lawyer, Mehmood Pracha, on Friday said the Dalit leader would soon address women protesting against the amended citizenship law at Clock Tower.

Talking to TOI during his visit to Clock Tower, Pracha said: “He (Chandrashekar) will surely come here to address protesters. As the court has now lifted ban on his participation in any kind of protest, he may come here any day.”

Pracha reached Clock Tower with other leaders of Bhim Army around 11.45pm and interacted with women protesters for nearly an hour.

“According to Chandrashekhar, CAA not only exempts Muslims of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, but also Hindus living in Middle East, Europe, United States and east Asian countries. The law is selective and is not based on compassionate grounds. If a Hindu is being oppressed in any other country, what will the government do?” he said.

Pracha said Chandrashekar had asked women to stay courageous to win the battle.

After addressing protesters, Pracha told TOI: “Chandrashekhar has asked me to interact with women protesters on his behalf and encourage them. Currently, he is in Patna and will also address people in Muzaffarpur.”

“Chandrashekar will surely come but the date has not been fixed yet,” he said.

Speaking on the writ petition which he has filed in the

Allahabad high court

against police and administrative officials for alleged violation of human rights of protesters during December 19 protests, Pracha said the court had fixed January 27 as the date for hearing.
