Lucknow: CBI Lucknow's Anti-Corruption branch lodged an FIR against six post office employees of Jhansi division for embezzlement of Rs 64 lakh.
The FIR was lodged on a complaint made by Jhansi division post office top brass. The accused are charged with misappropriating public funds amounting to the tune of Rs 64 lakh by forging cheques issued by the postal department through various fictitious savings accounts opened based on forged documents.
Those booked are senior Post Master Aibran Singh, Postal Assistant
Ashok Kumar, the then Deputy Postman, Hardas Verma, the then Postal Assistant, Arvind Patel, Deputy Postmaster, A K Shandilya, Senior Post Master, Rashid Khand Mansoori, and non-officers include Arun Kumar, A Kumar,
Arun Kumar 2, Anil Rajpoot, Anil, Mohammed Rahees, and Pratipal Singh,
Ravi Kumar.
The postal department also gave prosecution sanction against the accused officials for further probe by the CBI.
They have been booked under the charges of IPC 409 (criminal breach of trust), IPC 420 (dishonesty), IPC 467 (forgery) and IPC 471 (fraudulently using genuine documents).
CBI sources said that interrogation of the accused will commence soon.
