LUCKNOW: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Ankit Malik, the Branch Manager of the Bank of Baroda's Shikarpur branch in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh.
According to the CBI, the arrest followed a written complaint lodged on December 11, 2024.
The complainant alleged that the accused had demanded the bribe to sanction a loan of Rs 80 lakh, applied for by the complainant's wife.
Malik allegedly insisted that the bribe be paid via a signed bank cheque, which he later encashed.
A trap was set by the CBI, during which Malik withdrew the bribe amount using the provided cheque. He was apprehended with the cash in his possession.
Subsequently, searches were conducted at his residences in Bulandshahr and Delhi, leading to the recovery of a pistol at his Bulandshahr property, which was handed over to the local police.
