CBI arrests accused tout for demanding and accepting bribe in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested accused tout (private person) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant on behalf of the accused official of the Postal Department posted as Line Overseer, sub division– Lalganj, Lalganj Ajhara, Dist. Pratapgarh (UP).

Those arrested have been identified as Neeraj Pandey and Vimlesh Kumar Pandey, Line Overseer, Sub Division– Lalganj, Lalganj Ajhara, Dist. Pratapgarh, UP.

CBI registered a case on Nov 19 against said accused Line Overseer, Sub Division– Lalganj, Lalganj Pratapgarh, on allegations that accused demanded undue advantage of Rs 50,000 for facilitating smooth and error free annual inspection of Branch Post Office Nanauti, Sub P.O. Atheha, Distt. Pratapgarh of the complainant post master.

It was further alleged in the complaint that the accused official informed the complainant that the Branch inspection would be conducted by an Inspector and share from the demanded bribe was to be paid to the said Inspector also.

CBI laid a trap and caught accused tout (Private Person) red handed while demanding and accepting first instalment of Rs 20,000 from the complainant at the behest of accused Line Overseer.

The said tout was arrested on Nov 20 and was produced before the Court of Learned Special Judge, Anti Corruption, CBI Court No.3, Lucknow on Thursday.
