Campaign to detect breast cancer cases

Lucknow: Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute (KSSSCI) will run a campaign to detect women with breast cancer on its campus as well as in nearby districts. For this, a network of district hospitals and community health centres will be established.Addressing the first seminar under this campaign on Friday, SGPGIMS director prof RK Dhiman, who also holds the additional charge of KSSCI, said: Cases of breast cancer are increasing rapidly, so early detection is necessary. Therefore, personnel posted at nearby district hospitals and community health centres will be trained to screen and detect women with breast cancer in early stage.” Addressing representatives of 30 government and private medical colleges of Kanpur, Hardoi and Fatehpur, he said: “This will help in identification of breast cancer at an early stage and subsequent treatment.” Coordinator of this programme Dr Deepti Mishra of KSSSCI said staff will be trained to identify breast cancer in the first phase. In the next phase, a training programme will be started for detection of lung cancer.Dr Kavita Rajsekar, scientist of DHR New Delhi gave detailed information about this programme. Anu Nagar, joint secretary, department of health research, Central Government was also present.
