CAA protests: Six killed in different districts of Uttar Pradesh

Six persons were killed in different districts of Uttar Pradesh during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Two persons died in Bijnore, one each in Firozabad, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut and Sambhal. Cracking the whip on protesters, UP police had arrested 200 persons and detained 3,305. The internet continued to remain suspended in 17 districts of the state.

LUCKNOW: Six persons were killed in different districts of Uttar Pradesh as police continued to remain on toes with protesters in clash with cops relating to the Citizenship Amendment Act at several places in state. Two persons died in Bijnore, one each in Firozabad, Kanpur Nagar, Meerut and Sambhal.
Additional director general of police (law and order) PV Ramashastry confirmed six deaths in the state while calling it a ‘conspiracy’.

Meanwhile, internet continued to remain suspended in 16 districts in the state on Friday. These included - Saharanpur, Meerut, Shamli, Muzzaffarnagar, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Mau, Sambhal, Azamgarh, Agra, Unnao, Moradabad, Kasganj, Allahabad, Lucknow and Varanasi.
Cracking the whip on protesters, UP police had arrested 200 persons and detained 3,305 for defying section 144 of CrPC that had been imposed across the state in view of the prevailing law and order situation.
