LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati on Sunday said that it is only the BSP that can put a stop to the “anti-people schemes” of the BJP and “egoistic work practices like use of bulldozers against people”.
She heaped praises on Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali who is the party’s candidate for Azamgarh parliamentary bypoll. “Guddu Jamali is a resident of Azamgarh and has always worked for the people there irrespective of religion and caste. He has helped people during the pandemic while the candidates from the other parties were never seen in Azamgarh.”
Further praising Jamali, she said besides being a “good personality”, he never uses objectionable language against anyone.
After the UP assembly elections, Azamgarh Lok Sabha bypoll is the first that the BSP is contesting, said Mayawati, adding that it is “a chance for the people to kill two birds with one stone”. “First, they can teach BJP a lesson for their anti-people schemes like Agnipath, and second, they can give the Samajwadi Party a befitting lesson for its tacit understanding with BJP. This will also prove that BSP is the only party that has the potential to defeat BJP,” Mayawati said.
Continuing her tirade against SP and BJP, she said the two parties are the chip off the same block. “This has hit the people from the deprived sections the most in the state.”
She reiterated that it was the conspiracy by the two (SP and BJP) parties to create a public perception in the 2022 UP assembly elections about the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) as a B-team of BJP. “The two parties gave a communal tone to the elections and this brought the BJP back to power,” said Mayawati.
“This time, we hope the results will come in favour of the BSP. I appeal to people of all religions and sections to support the party,” she said.
