Lucknow: On police commemoration day, CM Yogi Adityanath met the kin of police officers who died in line of duty in recent times.Later, TOI met the families of two such bravehearts hailing from different regions of Uttar Pradesh.Despite their grief, they remain proud of their sons' bravery and are determined to honour their memories by continuing their legacy of service.‘Will make second son also a soldier'Vaidpal Rathi, a resident of Shahabad village in Muzaffarnagar, feels immense pride in his son Sachin's sacrifice for the nation.Sachin, who served in the Uttar Pradesh Police, gave his life helping others get justice.Vaidpal shared that Sachin, without thinking of his own safety, apprehended a notorious criminal, demonstrating his bravery.Vaidpal also mentioned that he plans to enrol his younger son, Jatin, in the police force to carry forward his brother's legacy and serve the country.Sachin's mother, Kiran, struggled to speak, overcome with emotion as she remembered her son's sacrifice. His sister, Anshu, was equally devastated by the loss of her brother. The family recalled that Sachin had always been passionate about serving the nation. From the day he joined the police, he had vowed to never let a criminal escape, and he kept that promise until his final breath.
On Dec 25, 2023, constable Sachin Rathi, stationed at Chhibramau police station in Kannauj, was involved in a raid on a smuggler's house. During the raid, the smuggler Ashok Kumar, his son Tinku, and wife Shyama Devi opened fire on the police team. Sachin was shot in the thigh and was rushed to a hospital in Kanpur, where he died during treatment.One Son Became a Martyr, Both Sons Were Police OfficersJaswant Singh, a resident of Chandpur in Bijnor, lost his son Rohit to the mining mafia when they ran him over with a vehicle. Jaswant shared that both his sons were constables in the UP Police.On June 8, 2024, constable Rohit Kumar, posted at Nawabganj police station in Fatehgarh, along with outpost in-charge Santosh Kumar and colleague Vijay Singh, responded to information about illegal mining activity. As they arrived at the scene, they saw soil being transported by a tractor-trolley, with a biker showing the way. Rohit gave chase, but the miscreants collided with his bike, causing him to fall under the tractor, where he tragically lost his life.
