He was first rushed to a nearby nursing home and later to the Vivekanand Polyclinic where doctors pronounced him dead.
Ratneshs father Udairaj Mishra, a sub-inspector, said that Ratnesh showed no signs of illness when he left for the school in morning. He denied that Ratnesh was suffering from any illness which could have led to his death. A good student, Ratnesh was also the class prefect.
Meanwhile, Vikramaditya Gupta, a classmate of Ratnesh, said the latter complained of uneasiness when they were practising for a state level athletic competition. But Dubey denied that boys were practising for any competition and said that they were only playing in the field during the recess. The exact cause of boys death could not be ascertained till late evening as his mother was not ready for a postmortem examination.
