Lucknow: A 3-pronged strategy — organisational discipline, monitoring of development projects, and engagement with the people at the grassroots — is set to be adopted by the BJP as it gears up for next year's assembly elections.
A broader outline of the strategy was drawn up by UP BJP chief Pankaj Chaudhary during a recent organisational meeting with the state functionaries in Lucknow. Sources said the idea was to establish firm coordination between the organisation and the people, while keeping a close watch on the delivery of people's welfare measures by the Yogi govt.

Organisational discipline was cited as the top priority by Chaudhary to keep a check on party functionaries showing signs of palpable dissatisfaction or anguish on the party or state govt front.
A senior UP BJP functionary said the party workers and public representatives were categorically asked to raise their issues, if any, only on the party forum instead of highlighting them in public or on social media. The measures assume significance in the backdrop of the recent incidnt when BJP's Charkhari (Jhansi) MLA Brij Bhushan Rajput publically confronted UP Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh over poor civic amenities in his constituency.
The controversy resulted in grave embarrassment for the party, even as the opposition found an opportunity to take a potshot at the BJP. Sources said the party sought to take cautious steps to project an image of unified leadership, besides arresting the chances of confusion amongst the cadre.
Likewise, the party has sought to coordinate closely with the state govt to ensure last-mile delivery of development projects and public welfare measures.
The party, sources said, has decided to hold regular review meetings of its organisational ranks at the district level to assess the ground-level political situation and take steps accordingly. This, experts said, can help the party measure cadre morale, track local caste and community dynamics, gauge public sentiment, and identify potential rebels.
