BJP women lead protest march for women empowerment
Lucknow: A protest march by women was organised in Lucknow by the UP BJP, highlighting issues of women’s dignity, safety and empowerment.
Termed as 'Mahila Aakrosh Mashaal March’, it began from Lok Bhavan and proceeded to Atal Chowk, where participants raised slogans against opposition parties, particularly targeting the Samajwadi Party and the Indian National Congress, accusing them of opposing the women’s reservation bill.
Senior BJP functionaries, including state president Pankaj Chaudhary and state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, were present at the event. They were joined by cabinet minister Baby Rani Maurya, state ministers like Pratibha Shukla, Rajni Tewari, state women commission vice-chairperson Aparna Yadav, Lucknow mayor Sushma Kharkwal, and several other party functionaries and women activists.
Carrying placards and banners, the participants raised slogans criticising the opposition and asserting women’s rights.
Later addressing the gathering, Chaudhary said that the BJP has consistently prioritised women’s empowerment, safety and dignity.
He criticised opposition parties, alleging that despite running the govt for years, they failed to take meaningful steps for women’s empowerment. Chaudhary added that schemes such as Ujjwala Yojana, Matritva Vandana Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and Mission Shakti reflect the govt’s commitment to making women self-reliant and empowered.
The march concluded with women BJP supporters asserting that they would continue to oppose what they described as anti-women forces and support policies aimed at safeguarding their rights and dignity.
