LUCKNOW: Observing bandh in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka, the BJP in Uttar Pradesh took out `tiranga march'' to vent their ire against the Congress for re-opening an old case against Uma Bharti.
Led by leader of opposition Lalji Tandon, Kalraj Mishra and former state president Vinay Katiyar, BJP leaders and workers assembled at the party headquarters in Lucknow on Thursday.

Carrying the tricolour in hands, they took out a march which went through the main thoroughfares before culminating into a `sabha'' at Patel Chowk.
Speaking on the occasion, senior party leader Kalraj Mishra took a dig at Congress for unleashing politics of vendetta against rivals. "Cases against Uma Bharti were re-opened on Sonia Gandhi''s direction. Uma had shown political wisdom to resign and offer arrest, will Sonia ask tainted ministers to follow the same? asked Mishra.
Leader of opposition Lalji Tandon too snubbed the Central and Karnataka government for reopening the old case. "If hoisting the tricolour was a crime, then party leaders and workers would commit the crime in every nook and corner of the country. Let Sonia or prime minister issue orders for our arrest," said Tandon.
Former state president Vinay Katiyar and ex-minister Om Prakash Singh also charged the Congress with hatching a conspiracy to frame BJP leaders in false cases. They warned that the Congress would have to face far-reaching consequences.
Besides Lucknow, BJP district units in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Kanpur, Agra, Jhansi, Jalaun, Moradabad, Banda, Faizabad and other places wore black badges and took out `tiranga''march''. The week-long agitation, which began from Thursday would continue till August 31.
