BEd JEE held under tight CCTV vigil

Lucknow: Close to 90% examinees took the joint entrance exam for admissions to Bachelor of Education (BEd JEE), conducted by Bundelkhand University, Jhansi on Thursday. In a first in UP, the competitive exam was held under CCTV vigil with real-time monitoring and face recognition attendance of candidates. According to a press release issued by university registrar Vinay Kumar Singh, a total of 4.7 lakh had registered for the exam that was held in two shifts at 1,108 centres in 75 districts of UP. In both the shifts, around 51,000 candidates remained absent. To ensure sanctity of examinations, the university had set up an Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) consisting of 23,500 CCTV cameras for real-time monitoring of examination centres. Using this, the identity of nine candidates in six cities were looked at with suspicion. Of this, two — one each in Kanpur and Mathura — were found to be impersonating. FIRs were lodged against the two impersonators.Jhansi commissioner Adarsh Singh, district magistrate Ravindra Kumar and SSP Rajesh S took stock of the situation from the ICCC. University vice-chancellor Prof Mukesh Pandey apprised the officials of the biometric attendance using AI technology.
