Lucknow: Catching a public transport to reach their destination is a major challenge for visually impaired people.
“There is no ramp or tactile on the road to guide us while walking. People also don’t follow the rules and park their vehicles in no parking zone which makes streets dangerous for us,” said Rajan Kesharwani.
“Even if we succeed in catching a bus, at times we cross our destination as there is no announcement system.

People also keep pushing us and mock at us,” said Rajan.
“Buzzers or alarms should be put up at crossings which people with disabilities can press before crossing a circle,” said Raj Bharti.
“Streets should be disabled-friendly, footpaths should have tactiles and stalls should not be allowed on it,” he added.
“Buses and other public transport should have an announcement system. Names of crossings and areas should be mentioned in Braille and government employees, including police, must be trained to help disabled people and be sensitive towards them,” he said. TNN
