lucknow: vacation judge of the high court, justice virendra saran here on wednesday granted bail to the three accused, detained for allegedly runing the iiit admission racket. ds chauhan, chaman singh and sri ram yadav, principal, national inter college, observer of the examination centre, and owner and proprietor of krishna coaching respectively, were detained for providing unused answer books and answers to the examinees in the all-india entrance examination test for admission in the indian institute of information and technology (iiit) after collecting rs two lakh each from interested candidates.

the court ordered to release the accused persons forthwith on furnishing two sureties of rs 50,000 each and personal bonds of like amount. the accused were charged with providing unused answer books and correct answers with the aid of co-accused teachers by tampering the answer books of the interested candidates and replacing the original answers by forged answer sheets. arguing on behalf of the accused persons, senior advocate virendra bhatia contended that the accused were falsely implicated due to inimical terms with the police. he urged that the test was conducted smoothly and thereafter answer books were sealed according to the prescribed guidelines. according to the prosecution, the entrance examination was held on may 12 at national inter college in which chaman singh, who had come from hyderabad was the observer. the police had raided the house of accused sri ram yadav, owner of krishna coaching and found that in a big hall some boys and girls were writing fresh answers in unused answer books with the help of some teachers. the police apprehended sri ram yadav and four teachers and also recovered 15 answer books; nine of them were recovered from the house of ds chauhan. a sum of rs 8,85,000 was also recovered from the almirah of sri ram yadav.
