Ayush Badoni posts his best IPL innings, eyes better performance

Lucknow: Ayush Badoni has been gaining in stature with each match for Lucknow Super Giants. The Delhi batter has been in the shadows of players like KL Rahul, Qunoton de Kock, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis. Last season, he got to bat in the lower order and did not have much scope to notch up big totals. Last year, he had just one good innings on 54 against Gujarat Titans. The rest of the bats were all in sub-20s.This season he has got to bat higher in the last few matches after impressing the LSG management as Impact Player. His best two knocks have come in the last three matches, 43 against Punjab Kings in Mohali when LSG notched up 258/7. And after he failed against RCB, he finally produced his best IPL innings of an unbeaten 59. He was the only batter in the innings who batted with authority and got his runs in only 33 balls, hitting all three sixes seen in the abandoned match. In the absence of Rahul, he took the responsibility to see that the home team posted a respectable total.With Badoni in good form, he will look to get a couple of big innings under his belt in the upcoming matches and if LSG qualify for the last four, it will give him further opportunity to show his prowess. Just a couple of days ago, Ayush Badoni had told the media, “Playing alongside (KL) Rahul and other foreign players in the team, I have learned a lot and gained a lot of confidence. Batting at the other end with reputed players, I have picked up a lot of variations and that has helped me to improve my batting.”
