LUCKNOW: The forthcoming consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla’s idol in
Ayodhya is poised to be a momentous occasion, not only for devotees in India but also for inmates in Uttar Pradesh’s prisons. Therefore, in accordance with the state government’s directives, all jail superintendents will arrange for the live telecast of the event, enabling prisoners to participate in this historic spiritual experience.
Dharamveer Prajapati, the minister of state for prisons and home guards, acknowledged the global anticipation surrounding the “Pran Pratishtha” program and underscored the significance of including prisoners in this occasion.
The initiative surpasses mere provision of access to the ceremony; prison authorities have already been conducting regular recitations of the Gayatri Mantra and Mahamrityunjay Mantra within jails, fostering a spiritual atmosphere, he noted. Acknowledging the prisoners’ yearning for “spiritual engagement”, the state has also placed an order for 50,000 copies each of Hanuman Chalisa and Sunderkand from Gita Press in Gorakhpur. These sacred books will be distributed in all jails.
The minister also highlighted that this inclusive gesture extends the opportunity for spiritual connection and cultural engagement to a segment of society often marginalised.
