Anand is president of Lucknow city unit, Maurya district chief
Lucknow: Supporters and workers started thronging the saffron camp's office situated along the Vidhan Sabha Marg on Sunday to congratulate and newly elected office bearers who would spearhead the party's day-to-day operations along with senior leaders.While Anand Dwivedi became the president of the Lucknow city again, Vijay Maurya was elected as the president of the Lucknow district president.A key organisation member of the party in Lucknow, Dwivedi was re-elected as a reward for his services and dedication. Also, a president of the private school association in the state, Dwivedi, 50, is considered to be a close aide of local MP and defence minister Rajnath Singh.From early childhood days, he became part of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh and has served as the city president in the past as well. Having started out from the Cantt area of the city, Dwivedi has served the party in different positions and has played an active role in ensuring victory of the candidates. Dwivedi is associated with the education sector.Similarly, Vijay Maurya, whose election as the district president came as a surprise but was welcomed by a large section of the party workers is from Ajampur village in Kakori. In the coming days more organisation shuffling could be in the offing.An OBC, Maurya has served alongside former president Ram Nath Kovind in the organisation. Having been elected as district general secretary on two occasions, Maurya is known for his humble background, straightforward approach and simple living. Maurya replaced Vinay Pratap Singh.Rajya Sabha MP and former mayor Dinesh Sharma, former state president Ramapathi Ram Tripathi, Rajya Sabha MP Naveen Jain who was deputed as the observer for the Lucknow district organisational elections along with other senior leaders congratulated the duo.Maurya said, "From Monday morning onwards I am going to visit the houses of the senior party leaders to seek their blessings and offer my gratitude to them. I would also visit the former district chiefs of Lucknow and would appeal to them to continue to work together," said Maurya.
