Alok Kumar elected VHP int’l president

Lucknow: In a major organisational reshuffle in VHP, its working president Alok Kumar was elected unopposed as its full-time international president on Monday.
Kumar replaces RN Singh who resigned from the post.
The reshuffle came soon after the meeting of the board of trustees of the VHP in Ayodhya. Kumar, a lawyer by profession, has been an old guard in the RSS and worked as its ‘pracharak’ for six years from 1974 to 1980. Kumar was also elected as the president of the Delhi University Student Union in 1973. He later led a movement against the Emergency. He was also the deputy speaker of the Delhi assembly between 1993 and 1995. He, however, resigned from the office to continue his practice as a lawyer.
Meanwhile, Bajrang Lal Bangra was elected the new general secretary of VHP. He replaced Milind Parande who was elected as the new organization general secretary of VHP. Vinayak Rao Deshpande has been made the co-organization general secretary. TNN
