LUCKNOW: The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Tuesday refused to quash the criminal proceedings launched against a scribe for sharing a false post on Twitter.

Dismissing his plea, a bench of Justice Shamim Ahmad observed, "On account of sharing incorrect facts on Twitter handles, there was a chance of violation of public peace and tranquility in the society."

Moving the petition, applicant scribe Manish Kumar Pandey had challenged the chargesheet and criminal proceedings going on against him in pursuance of an FIR registered against him with the Hazratganj police station on August 21, 2020, for tweeting a post. In the false post made on BJP MLA Dev Mani Dwivedi's forged letterpad it was said that the MLA was demanding from the additional chief secretary, home the information of criminal cases registered against various political persons. After the probe the police had filed a chargesheet against Pandey.
