LUCKNOW: Theme plantation near the Ram temple in Ayodhya is poised to enhance the city's beauty. According to officials, fully grown trees will imbue each road leading to the temple with distinct colours, potentially implementing a colour-coded scheme, in the future. Renu Singh, the conservator of Awadh region, said theme-based plantation will add to the aesthetic value once the trees mature.

Along Rampath, a divider will feature 30,000 Bougainvillea bushes, forming a pink thicket upon full growth. Complementing this pink palette will be 400 Tabebuia rosea and Tab argentea, with Tabebuia rosea introducing additional pink hues and Tab argentea providing bursts of yellow.

For roads like Ram Path, Dharma Path, Ram Janmabhoomi Path, and Bhakti Path, trees blossoming in pink, lavender, white, and orange will be planted within a specific distance, ensuring a seamless continuity of the chosen colour theme.

Sheetanshu Pandey, DFO of Ayodhya, said that plant species have been selected based on their high survival rates -- the types that stray animals don't destroy. "Plantation activities will accelerate as the season becomes conducive for plant growth, although blooms are expected to appear after at least six months," he added.

While species research is ongoing, more options will be available for plantation in Ayodhya by the start of the plantation season in July.

Simultaneously, smaller forests featuring trees from the Ramayan era are being developed along the Saryu river, incorporating 84 tree species mentioned in Valmiki Ramayan.

Furthermore, a newly-approved proposal designates an 80-hectare area in Rudauli for planting trees associated with deities. A proposal in this regard has been approved and the forest department has started working on the project.
