LUCKNOW: More than a week after he was shot dead, police on Monday said that Alambagh-based businessman Amanpreet Singh was murdered as he had asked the key accused Raju Sardar for the money he had loaned the former.
On January 9, Amanpreet Singh (40) was shot dead by three men outside his shop in
Alambagh
. Two of the miscreants, Sonu Khan and Raju Sardar aka Balwinder Singh, were booked for the murder.
Khan surrendered in court on January 19, while the prime accused Sardar was arrested from his sister-in-law’s house in
Aliganj
late on Sunday night.
A .30 bore pistol was also recovered from Sardar’s possession. Sardar told the police that Amanpreet had loaned him Rs 1 lakh.
Sardar had in turn given it to Sonu Khan, who had to pay back the money in instalments of Rs 2,000 each month.
When Sardar and Sonu Khan refused to return Amanpreet’s money, it led to a dispute. Later, the two roped in
Jugnu
Waliya, Mintu Bedi alias
Jaspreet Singh
and Dilshad to kill Amanpreet.
Station house officer (Alambagh) Brijesh Singh said Waliya gave two pistols Sardar. “After killing Amanpreet with the .30 bore pistol, Sardar returned the other pistol to Walia in Delhi. He then returned to Lucknow and stayed at his sister-in-law’s residence in Aliganj,” the SHO added.
